The Future of Powertrains on Autoline After Hours

I was part of a lively discussion on Autoline After Hours, a web show for “enthusiasts for the automotive industry.” Along with hosts John McElroy and Gary Vasilash, I met Dr. Mohammad Fatouraie, director of engineering at Bosch USA. Fatouraie holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan and is highly knowledgeable about automotive powertrains. He can speak eloquently about internal combustion engines (ICE), battery electric vehicles (BEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCEVs), extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), and more. Our wide-ranging conversation covered those topics and encompassed the past, present, and future of propulsion for passenger vehicles, freight, and mass transportation.

I always enjoy participating in an Autoline After Hours show. I felt more like an audience member than an expert on this one. Fatouraie has a comprehensive view of what’s going on with powertrain technology and a healthy vision of the transportation landscape that sees how all the elements work as a system with solutions sourced from many angles.

Autoline After Hours airs for free on YouTube or at the Autoline.tv website. See the June 13, 2024, episode here.
